depending on whose side u are on, Jim carrey's latest release will either be an overly dramatic embarassment or a good old thriller with nothing really new to boast about but at least keeps a little suspense to get u going. Joel S even goes through the pain to test if the audiences can be as obesssive over the figure, 23, as carrey's protangonist character (the director has added in some side entertainment by placing numbers and letters throughout the film. add all these up and guess what u get...). in my final take, i would give it 4 stars / 5 in the light of countless negative reviews (though many positive ones as well).
23 is juz bascially about an animal control officer, walter, who stumbled upon a novel named 'The Number 23'. His curiousity and paranoia began to increase about the supposed hidden meanings of the figure as he readed deeper into the book, discovering as he went that things are far more sinister than he had at first believed and the events describled in the novel seem to bear an eerie resemblance to the past events of his life. everything will eventaully escalate to the discovery of a terrible forgotten secret that will change walter's life forever.
